New MacBook Air on OS X 10.8.4 with Intel HD 5000. Installed VMWare Fusion 5.0.3 and imported a virtual machine from version 3.1. Installed a brand new copy of Windows 7 x64 from a physical device. Here is a video (attached) of what the screen does every time the mouse hovers over the VMWare window, both with the old and with the new installations of Windows. Notice that it's not a problem when VMWare is not the active window, and the flickering follows the mouse cursor vertically.
So far we have tried
- disabling 3D acceleration
- changing the mouse pointer
- running VMWare in troubleshooting mode
- updating VMWare
- reinstalling VMWare Tools
- checking Windows Update for a new video driver
- running VMWare with version 3 compatibility
