After installing the 5.0.2 update, the system is cycling through this error.
Windows starts (from crash state) then runs normally for a few minutes, then throws the above error and stops.
Thee do not appear to be any issues in the Windows space and the message box is Mac OS.
MacBook Pro Retina - Windows 7
Hi RadicalRich,
If you are running a mid-2012 MacBook Pro with the latest Apple updates, you'll likely encounter crashes unless you disable 3D graphics: With your VM powered off, go into the Virtual Machine > Settings, then choose Display, and turn off the Accelerate 3D Graphics option. If you only run Windows VMs, you also have the option of reverting to Fusion 5.0.1.
We're busily investigating the issue, which only arose with the release of Apple's MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0 late last week. Sorry for the trouble!

I have the same problem using a Mac Pro early 2009 and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 video card.

Did you try what Darius suggested?
BTW... Jumping into a thread saying little more then "I have the same problem..." is about worthless from a diagnostic/troubleshooting perspective. Yes I know you included "using a Mac Pro early 2009 and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 video card" however there is much information missing then you've offered. Additionally it would be more helpful if you'd describe the timeline events as relevant to your particular scenario and not require us to review other posts in the thread and surmise what's actually the same between your issue and the others.
To help figure out what is what, the best way to provide comprehensive diagnostic information is to use the "Collect Support Information" command from the VMware Fusion (menu bar) > Help > Collect Support Information and then attach the .tgz file it created on your Desktop to a reply post.
Sorry if I haven't provided more details.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit in a VMWare Fusion 5.0.2 VM, with graphics acceleration set to ON. I'm using a 30 inch Apple Cinema Display.
I have been able to reproduce the problem; it is happening when viewing a website using Flash 11 through IE 9. It might happen on other occasions but that is the one example I can reproduce every time.
When I disable VMWare hardware acceleration the problem goes away.
For now I left the hardware acceleration ON, and I uninstalled Flash (who need Flash these days anyways).

p.s. Also, regarding 5.0.2, it is not super smooth in Windows 8. Especially the sound (when I do something that is somewhat graphic-intensive the music I'm playing through the new Music app gets sketchy/skippy, then goes back to normal when the graphic operation ends). This sounds like an interupt/timing problem? I also had this problem in 5.0.1, but 5.0.2 fixed some display bugs I had, such as when opening the Settings panel through charms and going to PC Settings; the rendering of the controls on the right wasn't consistent, sometimes there would be buttons, text or pictures missing. But that was fixed.
So its confirmed your system too under the same category. You may have to keep the 3d acceleration turned off as a workaround until further updates are released. Vmware enginneers are working on a fix
Hi avanish123,
It's "under the same category" as what, exactly? It's true that we're investigating the specific problem Accomplix has encountered, but it is not the same problem as discussed elsewhere in this thread, or elsewhere in most of the other "5.0.2 crashing" threads. This one is much less common and is a completely different crash signature.
Cheers,

Hi,
I am having the same issue except when I run Adobe X and try to sign a document with a digital siganture. I think it is also happening with Mathematica. Today as an win32k.sys error (non-paged memory error I think - I had posted the exact error but didn't post for some reason.).. I have a MacBook Pro bought in October 8 gb Ram 2.7 gz OX 10.8.2 with latest Fusion.
Accelerated 3D graphcis is off....
David
Hi David, and welcome to the VMware Communities!
The issues discussed in this thread aren't known to cause win32k.sys errors and shouldn't occur once 3D acceleration is disabled, so the problem you're having there might have a different cause.
Could you kindly attach a support information bundle so that I can investigate the problem you're having there? In Fusion, choose Help > Collect Support Information and then compose a reply here in the forums, using the Browse... button below to attach the file.
Cheers,

I hope you can fix this soon, as I am having the same issue (VMWare Fusion 5.0.2 / 2012 Retina MacBook Pro / Windows 8 Pro guest).
However, why do you say reverting to 5.0.1 is an option "you only run Windows VMs"? I was thinking of downgrading, but I also run OS X 10.7 and Ubuntu 12.4 VMs.
Hi,
I contacted support since my last post. I would have crash when using Adobe if I loaded a PDF and then used the email button in Adobe to send a signed document and if I tried to save the PDF as an Excel file. I called support and after trying a few things he said it was Adobe causing the issue. Last weekend I installted Mathematica which is when I first go the crash. Since I don;t use it everyday I focused on Adobe. Support suggested I try uninstalling Adobe and if that did not work I would have to load a previous working Windows backup copy.
So after hanging up and I decided to go to the Mathematica site to see if there is a report of crashing. Apparently, the installler for Version 9 which I downloaded does something to the Fonts in Windows.

I have not had time to experiement since I have to do some real work, but I thought I would post if perhaps this may help someone.

Hi Gen. K. Whale,
There's a very complicated set of interactions between the guest OS, the Fusion version, and the host's video drivers.
If you have the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro Update 2.0 installed – i.e. if your host's System Information utility says that you have System Version OS X 10.8.2 (12C3006) – then you will be unable to run Ubuntu VMs with 3D acceleration enabled, regardless of whether you're running Fusion 5.0.2 or an earlier version, and your only recourse would be to disable 3D acceleration until the issue is fixed. Due to a quirk of the way things changed between Fusion 5.0.1 and Fusion 5.0.2, if you were running only Windows VMs, you'd be able to avoid this issue by reverting to Fusion 5.0.1 until the underlying issue is fixed – Windows VMs only provoke the failure when running on Fusion 5.0.2. Mac OS VMs are not affected by this issue at all.
Hope that helps explain things!
Cheers,

Update -
I just tried running Adobe PDF export and there was no crash. So people may want to look at the link I posted.

Are you kidding us? It's been one month since the issue and yesterday I accidentally updated to 5.0.2. So what do you think I get now?! Crash on startup!
So you're lying you've been investigating issue.
Where do I download 5.0.1 to downgrade? It isn't listed in downloads anymore.
VMware Fusion has worst support I've ever seen in my entire life.
Thanks.
Hi knmdk,
Sorry for the frustration. It is an extremely unfortunate set of circumstances that has left us with no proper resolution for this problem at this time. I assure you that we have not been sitting on our hands with this issue.
You should be able to download Fusion 5.0.1 by logging into My VMware, going into Downloads, finding the "Download Fusion 5.0" page (you should end up on this page which will only list Fusion 5.0.2), clicking View Download, and towards the top of the download page you should be able to choose Version 5.0.1 or Version 5.0.0.
Hope this helps!

+1 for getting a fix for this. It's hard to make progress going backwards.

Thanks, Darius. I've found the correct link. Hope it helps.
+1 i'd love to see a fix for this. Running on a macbook pro retina, on VM 5.0.2.
With 3D enabled I get a reliable crash on a guest ubuntu login screen, and also get a reliable crash when browsing to the nvidia website in chrome under windows 7.
In both cases disabling 3D fixed the issue, but ubuntu in particular is almost unusable without graphics acceleration.
I am assuming there still is no fix for this issues out side of installing 5.0.1?
Part of me wonders whether VMWare are waiting for OS X 10.8.3 to come out first before releasing a fix. 10.8.3 comes with new Nvidia drivers (so I've heard) and these seem to be part of the problem with this error which is fixed by disabling Video Acceleration.
Anyway, as 10.8.3. is rumoured to be released soon, then it'll be interesting if that resolves any of these problems.
