Hello,
after Upgrading from Fusion 3 to 4.0.1, the IDE hard disk of my Windows 7 VM (single growable file) is shown with a size of 233 GB instead of 40 GB. Fortunately from within Windows guest everything looks normal (C: 40 GB) and the file is 27 GB in size on the Mac host.
OK, someting gone wrong when the VM was updated. I'll just try to copy and reimport the .vmdk - which leads to the next issue:
Where is vmware-vdiskmanager? /Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/ is empty besides two license files. Where have all the command line tools gone?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
VMware Fusion 4 is a self-contained application bundle. The vmware-vdiskmanager is now in:
/Applications/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library
If you copy the VMware Fusion.app somewhere else, adjust accordingly.
Best Regards,
Simon
Hi, Simon,
thanks a lot - that cleared up one major question. Unfortunately even the converted disk is shown with 233 GB size when I try to reimport it through the GUI; then the import is cancelled with some message about inappropriate disk size 😉
Well, ... I'll keep on experimenting. Oddly, my other VM, FreeBSD with a 40 GB disk, doesn't exhibit this Bug/Feature.
Kind regards,
Patrick
Hi Patrick,
Does your VM by any chance have snapshots?
