VPC510 - Objective 1.1 - Identify available vCenter Server editions - cant find a sure answer

Hello All,

I am preparing my self to give the VPC510, I am reading the official book, online documentation and some blogs. But still there is one objective that I can not find a straight answer for. Maybe its me I don't know. Can some one help me:

Identify available vCenter Server editions

please?

I know its sounds stupid question but here is the confusion:

Book: standard - enterprise - enterprise plus

Documentation: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf :standard - enterprise - enterprise plus - -but: VMware KB: VMware vCenter Server editions and licensing information foundation - essentials - standard

Exam notes and blogs: foundation - essentials - standard  - example: http://vinfrastructure.it/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/VCP5-study-notes-EN-1.1.pdf

http://blog.mwpreston.net/2012/02/10/at-last-its-done-my-vcp-5-study-notes-and-a-sexy-pdf/

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

There's a difference between the editions of vSphere and of vCenter Server. Also the KB article you posted was for vSphere 4.

Page 7 of this document has the answer: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf

Thank you for your answer! That makes it very clear!

The official book gives me headaches! After you said that the vCenter and vSphere have different editions I noticed that the blueprint and the official book have deferent title in this objective.

Its start talking about vCenter and ending giving a table with the vSphere editions. Therefor it gives you the impression that both vCenter and vSphere are having the same editions. It says what the three versions of vCenter are in a NOTE box! as a further research for your self! practically it doesn't answer the question at all!

Anyway thank you very very much!
