Fast Track - Now? Or wait for 4.x?

All:

With the coming release of vSphere 4.x, should one wait to train until it's released?

I know the differences between 3 and 3.5 were huge, so I'm wondering if this one will be te same type of release with more content for training.

Thanks,

Brandon

Hello and welcome to the forums.

With the coming release of vSphere 4.x, should one wait to train until it's released?

The problem is that no one will (or can) tell you when the next version will be released. Either way, it will take some time from that point for the new info to work it's way into the courses. I say take the course now, and then you should be in good shape with understanding the current product. The changes in future versions are easier to learn, if you know the bulk of what was already there. Plus, waiting just means there is that much more to learn at a later point.

Good Luck!

any industry has updates and changes, doesn't matter what it is. So there will always be something better in the future. Learn what you can, and when you become familiar you can simply learn the difference later.

I wouldn't wait, it's not going to be anything revolutionary just more enhancement with more features.

Hi Brandon,

There's a couple of bits of information I can share with you. From the end of August the vSphere ICM course will be extended to a 5-day course. The Fast Track course will still exist and still contain additional material that won't be in ICM - so the Fast Track will still be an extended-hours course whereas the ICM will remain a more typical length of day in class. I can't comment on software versions and release dates. If I was you, I'd get trained now and not wait, I would expect that the vast majority of what's covered in the courses on the up-and-coming software version will be the same or very similar to what's covered in the equivalent courses today.

Scott.
