Hi all,
we bring-up our VCF infra with the default AVN subnet"192.168.11.0/24 and 192.168.31.0/24" in xls file. After the bringup was completed, we change the subnet AVN due to a network constraint.
But when we launch the vrealize deploy option on SDDC Manager, in the first page "Network Setting" it propose (read-only) the original subnet configured during the Bringup process. It seemes that our change in NSX Manager was not sync with SDDC Manager.
Do you know if we can change this conf with the new one ? if yes can you help us :)?
Thanks
Hi,
You are technically not meant to change things outside of what SDDC Manager knows about. There is not really any active syncing between the two for a lot of objects. In your example I imagine the database on SDDC Manager will need to be changed and that is something you will require GSS for.
If you say for example change the overlay VLAN id in the transport node profile that is created and then applied, that change will come across into SDDC Manager.
Keep in mind, you need to be very careful about making any changes once the environment is up and running.

Hi,
Thanks.
Does it mean that either we need to reinstall or only support can do something?
We opened a ticket , wait and see.
Thanks a lot.
Yes, I would wait for gss to advise.
Manipulating data on VCF db is not supported and definitely shouldn't be perform on prod env without VMware support but i would do 'select * from avn;' on platform schema to check current config.

Hi,
We are aware that VMware do not support making changes to components deployed and managed by VCF.
It seems that UUIDs/IDs in the different DBs (VCDB, VCF Postgres) are not the same and the changes will not propagate through the environment.
We are waiting the Support analysis.
Hopefully it's not a prod environment, so we can reinstall as we want for the moment but we would like to know if the change is possible in a case we encountered this problem on customer infra.
Thanks
Good plan, wait and see.
I have made a few DB changes in VCF over the past few months. Some have gone smoothly and others haven't, to the point where it may look like all is well at the start but you start to face issues later on. Good luck with it!
Thanks Shank8,
I will keep you informed 🙂
