VCF on DELL MX 7000 / VXRAIL

Hello Team,

As per DELL documentation : to configure VCF on MX server , we need to enter the URL of the lead chassis of MX to configure the redfish translation layer ( page 17/18):

https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_software_int/esuprt_software_virtualization_s...

- What if we are configuring the MX chassis' as a standalone  ( no chassis groups/ every chassis has it's own prod & mgmt uplinks ) ?

- Can we configure same VCF instance for both VXRAIL and MX nodes ?

Thanks.

Concerning the MX single chassis question, you need to open a ticket with Dell to validate if this is possible or not.

As for the question regarding deploying a single instance of VCF on VxRail and MX, then that is not possible. VCF on VxRail uses a specific deployment methodology where VxRail Manager integrates with the VCF SDDC Manager that are designed specifically for VxRail. MX Blades are treated as standard vSAN Ready nodes and hence you can use the vanilla VCF deployment methodology. Hence you have to end up with 2x VCF instances.

Thanks Bassam.

Looks like it is not supported to connect multiple standalone chassis into SDDC manager. SDDC Manager currently provide single Redfish end-point  in UI assuming it will be connected to the lead chassis. Not sure if it would be possible through API though.
