We are in discussions with a customer to setup a VCF Installation with several Stretched Clusters (vSAN Ready Nodes). the customer is using OSPF for Routing, BGP would cost him extra licenses on the switches.
I found KB 85916 describing the limited support of OSPF implementations within VCF 4.3 installations. Sure, OSPF support came with NSX-T 3.1 last year. but more concerning, the KB mentions that OSPF is not supported in VCF stretched cluster installations!
I checked recent NSX-T 3.x and VCF 4.x release notes to find any updates on this missing feature set, but I found nothing.
is anybody aware of different information in current or upcoming releases?
many thanks upfront!
Carsten
Hi Phili,
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/85916 is correct . Not which i am aware of in upcoming release features. generally OSPF not supported with Stretched Cluster, It is better to use BGP which is fully support for VSAN , VCF and stretched cluster.
thanks for the quick reply. I will discuss with the customer that we have to go with BGP for now.
