Question about the vRealize LogInsight of VCF3.7

Hi Gurus,

We are proposing VCF3.7 Advanced (on VxRail or ReadyNode) for a customer.  And I have a question about the vRealize Log Insight bundled in VCF3.7.  In the FAQ, I can see that:

--  Each instance of Cloud Foundation includes the right to use 50 OSI instances of vRealize Log Insight to capture logs from the management domain components only. The edition used is the full vRealize Log Insight, which includes features such as log forwarding and HA for those management domain components. If a customer wants to use vRealize Log Insight functionality for actual workloads, the customer must acquire the appropriate vRealize Log Insight licenses.

My question includes:

1. Does it mean the customer will have to purchase additional vRLI (per CPU or 25 OSI pack) for each VI workload domain?   If yes, will the SDDC manager deploy the additional LogInsight instance for each VI workload domain automatically?

2. Is this the unique requirement for vRLI?   In other words, does other components of vRealize Suite Enterprise (like: vRA. vRO, vRV, vRNI) have similar requirement for VI workload domain?

Thanks a lot and Best Regards

Hi Victor,

VCF deployes vRLI duirng bringup and enables logging for the Mgmt Domain per default.

If you want to enable logging for the VI WLDs, there is an option in SDDC Mgr. to turn it on, but as you correctly said if you do it you do need to have a license.

If you are using VCF Advanced there is vRLI included in the bundle, which means you do not need to buy additional OSI packs.

Hi DKoeck,

Thanks so much for you reply!

-- If you are using VCF Advanced there is vRLI included in the bundle, which means you do not need to buy additional OSI packs.

---- Does it mean for VCF Standard/Advanced/Enterprise, (all of them includes the vRealize suits which contains vRLI license), we don't need to buy additional OSI packs for vRLI?  That is, ONLY for VCF Basic (which does not include vRealize suite license), the vRLI is licensed for management domain components only, and the additional OSI packs for vRLI will be necessary for workload domains.

-- One more question about "turning on the 'logging for the VI WLDs'  option in SDDC Mgr", will the Mgmt Domain share the same default vRLI instance with other VI WLDs?  Or will the SDDC deploy additional vRLI instance for each new VI WLD?   [ And what about vRO and vRA, will the Mgmt Domain share the same default vRA/vRO instance with other VI WLDs?]

Thanks so much again and Best Regards
