DNS Configuration error during Bring up

Jump to solution

Hello

We are trying to deploy VCF in our lab, but we are getting an error during the validation stage.

ESXi host 172.16.11.101 (sfo01-m01-esx01) hostname sfo01-m01-esx01 does not match sfo01-m01-esx01.cc-demo.local

Error connectng to ESXi host 172.16.11.101

This error is repeated for each host.

I have checked DNS and it looks fine. From the CloudBuilder VM I have verified that I can use NSLookup to resolve the hostname and the FQDN of each ESXi host as well as succesfully performing a reverse lookup of the IP address.

Thanks Sean

How did you build  these hosts?

I have seen this a few times where the dns hostname on the hosts do not much the FQDN / DNS records.  May want to check that.  Is SSH enabled on the hosts?  I imagine ping is working, test out SSH.. that may be the cause.

Records and host names are case sensitive, make sure that match as well.
