vCenter Operations Database?

Does vCops5 require its own database outside of vCenter database? Ive gone through the documentation and it looks like one needs to be configured. However, Ive seen install posts/videos where no database configuration is done. I assumed it simply collected vCenter DB information and didn't need its own.

Please correct me if Im(very possibly) wrong.

Thanks all!

vCops does use a separate DB (FSDB). This DB is already configured when you install the vAPP version of vCops. If you are installing the stand alone vCops you will need to configure either a SQL or Oracle back end server. Please see the Installation and Configuration Guide for more information.

just to clarify, you have FSDB in standalone as well. e.g. it is used together with the other DBs.

the vapp uses built-in Aurora/PostgreSQL DB, where standalone rely on external Oracle or MS SQL.
