Do all vCenter Alarm definitions get synched to vROps? I was comparing Alarm definitions that I have in vCenter with Alert definitions defined by "vCenter Adapter" in vROps. They are not quite matching so I am not able to verify if vCenter adapter actually does sync all definitions in vROps.
Also, if Alerts do actually get sycned, what happens if I change the Alert definition in vROps? Does it get changed in vCenter too?
vCenter Alarm definitions are not automatically synced to vROPS. However, you can create Symptom Definitions and Alerts in vROPS based on vCenter Alarms. You can create Alert Definitions in vROPS by selecting Base Object Type as vCenter and then Virtual Machine. You can also create your own Alert Definitions.
I hope this helps!
I have two follow-up questions:
1. Is the behavior the same for other sources besides vCenter such as AWS CloudWatch, Azure monitor, NSX, vSAN etc.
2. Do Alerts (I'm talking about Alerts, not Alert definitions) get synced to vROps from 3rd party sources such as vCenter or not?
