report creator of a VM using vrops

Hi all,

pretty new in vrops and trying out the reports and dashboards.

Used the search but didn´t find a matching existing post, so please point me to an existing one if there is one.

I´ld like to create a report listing me the VMs and it´s creators of the last 7 days for example.

I´m currently able to get the last 7 days created VMs but can´t find any chance to list the creator as well.

Some hints?

Hi there,

There is nothing out of the box for that. How do you deploy the VMs? If you use vRealize Automation, this post of mine might help you out:

Hi,

thanks for your reply.

We are creating our VMs using a powershell command right now.

We only have vRealize Operations Manager Advanced Edition purchased. Not sure if we are able to use vRealize Automation and how to configure it right now, but sounds interesting.

Yeah vRA is pretty cool, but it has a steep learning curve. What you could do is change your powershell script so that it adds a custom attribute to the VMs when deployed. In that you can save the user who runs the powershell script. Then you can use the previous link to create a custom view for the report.

Custom attribute:
