I'm trying to upload the PAK file for the 5.8.1 update (VMware-vcops-SP2-1381807.pak; 3.2 GB), This is currently running for more than an hour.
Is there a way to monitor the progress? Maybe I can check the temporary download location on filesystem of the VM?
On the admin UI I only see the dialog stating that the upload is still running and it may take a few minutes.
Currently I'm on 5.8.0 1448123.
Hmm, seems that the SLES Upgrade I installed already while upgrading to 5.8.0 is the same which is provided for 5.8.1, isn't it? (SLES 11 SP2)
The information on the download page suggests that I have to do the SLES upgrade for 5.8.1 before I can proceed to update vCOps.
"Server (SLES) 11 SP2. An OS upgrade is required to run vCenter Operations Manager 5.8.1 "
Using another browser I got an error message (general error) starting the upload of the PAK file fpr the SLES upgrade.
So I proceeded with the actual vCOps update from 5.8.0 to 5.8.1 and that went trough successfully.
in general you can monitor the log files in "/var/log/vmware" - can't remember the exact filename(s), but there *is* a detailed log file for the vcops PAK upgrades.
the OS upgrade is another story, not shure how to monitor it. probably in a similar way though
