Hello Guys,
We are having the performance issues with vC Ops after upgrade from 5.6 to 5.7. Ours is huge environment and we are monitoring 3000 vm's with one instance of vC Ops. The problem is when we are trying to retrieve the metrics like cpu, memory for each host or vm it is taking long long time to load those graphs. We are using Chrome .. Also after the upgrade to 5.7 the memory usage has been jumped form 50 to 75%. For the large environments is there any problem if we use full profile rather than balanced profile..... What is the difference between these two profiles??
Thanks
VK
Balanced profile collects less metrics.
The metrics not being collected in balanced profile does not affect any of the built-in calculations or badges.
VK, cant answer the changes in util levels, but when I applied balanced mode I saved ~600,000 from 1.5 million metrics.
Hey Service Optimi,
How can we find out how many metrics have been saved from the collection??
Thanks
VK
Hello Gradinka,
Does these profiles causing the sudden usage of memory from the time of 5.7 upgrade or does the design of 5.7 itself using the more memory??
Thanks
VK
In AllMetrics (vsphere-ui) there are metrics "vCenter Operations Generated" -> "Full Set - Metric count" and "vCenter Operations Generated" -> "Self - Metric count".
those are showing the information asked.
VK,
I just ran an audit report from the custom ui before and after. Probably a better way, but this worked enough to see a big difference after balanced mode.
Thanks Gradinka for the solution.
Also i had another issue with the vC Ops 5.7. In the standard dashboard --> Operations tab --> All Metrics --> CPU Usage -- vC Ops was unable to collect data for Host level -- IO wait (ms) from almost April. I am unable to figure out what happened. Also at the Badge level highlighted in red it is showing yellow colored symbol. what does this mean??. Please find the image for detailed info.
Hello Service Optimi,
Got it what you said ... thanks for the info. Also i had another issue posted above. any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Guys,
Any idea why i have this issue with my vC Ops. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi vkaranam,
There are many changes in the product between 5.6 and 5.7, including update of many 3rd part components like Java, Tomcat, etc.
In addition, the more vcops runs, the more data it accumulates/processes, meaning it might require a bit more memory.
So I can't explicitly tell you why are you observing that, but as long as it runs stable, there shouldn't be concerns.
On the other hand, you might also consider 571 as well, which was released today
