Late alerts coming from over a month ago

We had an issue with our vCOPs about a month ago and it was running yet not fully running for about 3 weeks.  VMware finally fixed it and we are up and running now.

The challenge now is these alerts from a month ago are now getting emailed to us.   Any idea how to check or clear the queue in vCOPs so we have a fresh working state instead of month old alerts finally coming in?   We are running vCOPs 5.8.0.

Ya, that would make sense. You had some lingering cleanup that had to be done to flush out the old alerts since the adapter had connectivity issues and might've had some orphaned resources. Let us know if anything pops up again, but I suspect you'll just get new alerts from hereon forward.

You can clear/close the alerts from the Custom UI if you've got Advanced or Enterprise edition of vC Ops.

When alerts won't clear out as they should, sometimes the alerts table needs to get purged. However it's a custom deal that GSS should do with you.

What was the problem that VMW fixed for you?

About a month ago the DB got corrupted somehow.  We rebooted and the main web page wouldn't come up and the advanced one would.  So vCOPs was running yet it wasn't.   It was collecting data and generating alerts/events/etc.  Nothing was actually being sent out.

We finally got that fixed after making it clear that it wasn't the SSL change issue.  GSS was stuck on the fact that right before that we had changed our SSL certs to be properly internally signed.   We ran a script that took about 18 hours and then we were up and running again.

I've cleaned out manually about 600 alerts from the custom console just to see if we can get notification on new events, not old events that should have cleared already.  We will see if it keeps sending out new notifications from events that happened over a month ago or not.
