How vCOPS collect data

Hi all,

I have a small question to ask. After installing vCOPS, the collection of information for the construction of the metrics, thresholds, etc., is also based on old data prior to installing vCenter or the information is collected only from that point on?

Thank you all.

vcops collects info from the point it connects to the data source only. It doesnt go back even if the data source has that data. If you needed that data you might want to get a pso quote to pull historical data before going live with current data.

Hi,

On page 19 of the getting started guide, it says:

"The density score is the ratio of the actual density to an ideal density based on the demand, the amount of
virtual capacity, and the amount of physical usable capacity. Density calculates the amount of resources that
you can provision before contention or conflict for a resource occurs between objects. The ratios account for
the number of virtual machines to host, the number of virtual CPUs to physical CPU, and the amount of virtual
memory to physical memory."

My question is: If a host is placed under maintenance mode, does vCOPS still include resources for that host as "physical usable capacity" or not?

Just a bit of a context, we are placing several hosts on maintenance mode to drive up density on our VDI infrastructure.  But I am not seeing significant increase in density metrics after placing 2 hosts on maintenance mode on a 6-hosts cluster.  I am not sure if vCOPS accounts for the resources of the hosts in maintenance mode or not.

Can someone from this forum please confirm?  vCOPS experts?

Thanks in advance!
