Combining resources

Hello,

I have vcops 5.7.2 running with both a vcenter and a scom plugin.

Now vcops gets a resource from vcenter RD01 but also gets the same server through the scom plugin: RD01.rd.local

It would be very handy if they were presented as one resource.

Is that possible?

Regards

hans

Hello Hans,

It is possible.  You will need to create a relationship between the two resources and this can be done manually or pragmatically using the relationships adapter.

To create this relationship manually, you will go into the custom UI under Environment > Advanced > Resource Relationship.  This is really not recommended for more than a few objects, because it is much more efficient to use the relationships adapter.  However, you can find more information about using this method in the vC Ops 5.7 Custom UI Admin Guide on page 29.

Information about the Relationships Adapter here.ftp://ftp.integrien.com/VCOPS-VMware_Product_Adapters/VMware-vCenter/vCenter-Adapter-Install-and-Con...

thanks, that looks ok. The problem i have with it that it created a child resource. But as i see it now that purely cosmetic.

thanks alot.

ah this kinda sucks. I use a geeric scoreboard to give an overview of how many users are logged in on a terminal server.

But i cant do that with the resource relationship that i just created. Cause when i select the vmware version i dont see the scom metrics.

What am i doing wrong?
