Hello
We have department-team name as a value in vSphere custom attributes. Updated by automatic process.
For each team we have created a dashboard showing number of VMs , CPUs and lots of other stuff, and that by filtering on department-team name in the custom attributes.
We have created 40 to 50 dashboards like that.
A user that is interested to know about VMs used by a specific team, he finds that particular dashboard among the others.
It would be easier with one common dashboard, where the user could type the department-team name is interested in, and then get the result.
Is that possible, and how ?
Also because department names and team names changes frequently, it is a manual task to keep all the dashboards updated.

Hey mate
Could you not use interactions?
Create a dashboard and a widget that only lists your departments
Then create another widget with your stats that you want, like cpu,etc
When you edit the dashboard, you should be able to see show interactions, drag a line from the source dashboard listing your stats dashboard. That should link the two together, when you select a department from one widget, the second should update with the relevant stats
Let me know how you go.
Scott
I think this is close to what you are looking for.

In your case an object list with all the departments would be easier. In that widget you can search for the department needed.
I use environments which are created automatically by a script.
Hello Kabir
Thanks for your reply, but I was more looking for a way not to create something per team ( or per user in your example ), there are many users and teams in our company , and it changes frequently.
Was more a dashboard that could react on user input, and do the filtering on that.

Yeah that's why I said you could do that with an object list. From here your users can pick the team they are interested in. For that part is doesn't really mater if you select a user (in my case) or a team.
Do you have tags assigned (in vCenter) for those teams? If so you could build a filter based on tags in the object list widget, which makes it easier selecting the correct team.
