CPU/Memory usage metrics on a two different metric chart for a group of VMs

Hi all,

I was trying to figure out cpu/memory usage trend for a group of VM in vROPS 8.6.4 (Enterprise Edition). can anyone share the insight to implement it. Please note that i want to see multiple vms (which belongs to a project) cpu usage in a single graph denoted by color grid as well as memory in a different graph denoted by color grid. I have seen a dashboard (Vm Compare dashboard) where this thing implemented for group of VM but it needs to select vm first then manually need to select the metrics of the vm and then sparkline chart and metric chart show the usage. also here metric chart show all cpu and memory usage on the same graph which is bit messy to see. So please share your thought/way out to implement this on a dashboard.

To create a custom dashboard in vRealize Operations Manager (vROps) 8.6.4 Enterprise Edition that displays CPU and memory usage trends for a group of VMs, you can follow these steps:

1. Create a Custom Group:

   • Go to the "Environment" tab in vROps.
   • Navigate to "Groups" and click on "Custom Groups."
   • Click on "Add" to create a new custom group.
   • Define the criteria for the group members, such as VMs belonging to a specific project or having certain tags/attributes.

2. Create a Dashboard:

   • Go to the "Dashboards" tab in vROps.
   • Click on "Create Dashboard" and choose "Create Custom Dashboard."

3. Add Widgets to the Dashboard:

   • Click on the "Add Widget" button on the dashboard canvas.
   • Select the "Heat Map" widget for the CPU usage graph and drag it to the canvas.
   • Configure the widget settings:
     • Select the appropriate data source, which should be the custom group you created earlier.
     • Choose "CPU" as the metric to visualize.
     • Set the time range for the trend you want to see (e.g., last 7 days).
     • Enable the "Heat Map" option, which will display VMs in a grid, each with its color-coded CPU usage.
   • Repeat the process to add another "Heat Map" widget for memory usage.

4. Customize the Dashboard Layout:

   • Adjust the layout of the widgets as per your preference. You can resize and rearrange them to have a visually appealing design.

5. Save the Dashboard:

   • Once you're satisfied with the dashboard, click on "Save" to give it a name and save it to a folder.

6. Access the Dashboard:

   • The newly created dashboard will now be available under the "Dashboards" tab.
   • You can access it anytime to view the CPU and memory usage trends for the VMs in the custom group.
