vROPS Licensing Question

Preparing to renew our vROPS (actually vCOPS 5.8.3) licensing and had a question regarding the way they work.

In our vROPS environment, VMs comprise only about half of our total collected hosts. We've integrated our SMARTS collections so that we're able to view the collected data/metrics in vROPS. Does the license account for these physical servers or is it only concerned with total collected VMs?

Thanks in advance.

Licensing for vROps is not object based, it is based on the CPU count of the ESXi servers from which it collects.  If you have vSphere with Operations Management 6 or vCloud Suite, vROps is an included component.  You would license the hosts with the license key and vROps would use the same key (or keys if necessary).  You are limited based on the number of CPU sockets your license is for.

This thread should be moved to vRealize Operations.
