vCO Configuration Interface Deprecation?

Release notes for vCO 5.5.1 say the following:

  • vCenter Orchestrator Configuration Interface
This feature is currently deprecated and planned to be removed in the second major release of vCenter Orchestrator. Recommended vCenter Orchestrator configuration should happen through vCenter Orchestrator configuration workflows and vCenter Orchestrator configuration API.

What exactly does this refer to?  Is this saying that the whole vCO Configuration Server, i.e. the web interface for managing plugin installation and general vCO configuration ( https://my-vCAC-appliance:8283/ ) is gong to be gone ?  Or something more specific like the config webapp that is bundled inside of a plugin?

This means the vCO Configuration Server (...:8283) is going away in the future. So if you build a plugin that uses that "old" configuration, you will have to change your plugin.

All the "modern" plugins (like vCAC, SOAP, REST, SQL, ...) provide workflows that can be used to "configure" the plugin, like adding and managing endpoints.

Cheers,

Joerg
