AutoDeploy vCO Add a Depot not working

I am trying to get Add a Depot workin in vCO. I am running vCenter 5.

I fill in the following for variables:

Depot name : OD

Depot URL : https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml

The error message I get is:

Exception while creating Software Depot! Reason: vmwdpm:vendorList : vmwdpm:vendorList (Dynamic Script Module name : addDepot#52995)

The hurdles I have cleared so far are:

I know the URL is valid since an invalid URL will return a different error message

I know SSL isn't a problem since it has a different error message if it was.

Any help would be absolutely great. Thanks.

Hi,

The current version (1.0.0) of Auto Deploy plug-in doesn't support this URL because of some metadata parsing issues. In order to work it requires URL to depot that has only metadata that can be used by Auto Deploy i.e. metadata for loading the whole ESXi. not mixing with some partial packages for upgrading and etc.

However a newer version of Auto Deploy plug-in will be released soon (I think in September) that will support the aforementioned URL and you will be able to use this depot provided that it contains metadata that can be used by Auto Deploy. The newer version will require vCO 5.1 and vCenter Server 5.1.
