vRealize Automation 7 install wizard fails to create initial content

Hi all,

Trying to complete the install wizard, it fails during the last step with the message:

The initial content configuration failed at step: "Import ASD blueprint". See the log file /var/log/messages for more details.

Checking /var/log/messages, not a lot of helpful info here. Any ideas why it fails? Possible to import this stuff manually? Thanks!

Logged into the vRA embedded Orchestrator and tried to run the Initial Configuration Service workflow manually (under vRealize Automation->Configuration->InitContent). Got the following error:

FYI, the initial content creation is really configuration. You aren't losing anything by not having the import, you just need to perform the config yourself.

The setup of initial content does the following:

Add a Local User

Assign Tenant Admin/IaaS Admin to local user

Create an Endpoint

Create a Fabric with said local user

Create a Business Group containing local user

Create a Reservation.

Data collection.

Create Blueprint from any templates found

Publish them as Catalog Items

Create a Service

Associate Catalog Items with Service

Create an Entitlement for those Catalog Items

That said... it should work. Could you please show the Inputs page of the Orchestrator workflow? It may be that one of the values you were prompted for was not in the correct format.

I have seen the initial configuration fail, if the vCenter you're connecting to doesn't have any VM Templates configured. Might be worth checking.

Had the same issue, we manually created the content.   Ours was a medium deployment with 2 appliances, 6 windows machines + db server.

In my case it was an incorrect license key. I was using vRealize IT Business Management license key which allows the wizard to continue but is not enough for vRealize Automation to work correctly.  Using a key from vCloud Suite Enterprise fixed this problem for me and allowed the installer to create the initial content.
