vCAC and IBM Tivoli Monitoring

vCAC 6.0 Documentation Center lists the critical services needed by the application.  IBM provides monitoring agents for SUSE Enterprise Linux 11 (64-bit).  My question is, does VMware support the installation of monitoring agents on the vCAC virtual appliances?

This has been raised internally. Don't consider what I say here as an official support statement, however for the vRA Log Insight content pack you are required to install the Log Insight agent into the vRA Appliance.  Will update you further when I have something official.

Grant:

In addition to monitoring software, what about backup-restore? I realize that there are various ways to have scripts push backups, but this would require net new processes when it would be easier to use something like TSM.

Thanks.

Ok, so word on the street is as follows:

You're fine to put agents in guest, however you may be asked to remove them as part of a future support call to validate that they are not impacting the behaviour of the environment.

Hope that helps.
