How can I install vCenter server?

I checked the vCenter server installatuon guide,

I read the First step, ESXi host have to be installed then vCenter server can be installed

I don't understand vCenter server is the main computer or server but I have to type the ESXi host IP address to install vCenter server

I think vCenter server stays on the top , the ESXi host is individual field computer

How can i understand this vCenter installation steps?

vCenter Server will run on top of an ESXi host, i.e. needs no dedicated hardware to run on.

It's a virtual machine, which - once installed - can manage multiple ESXi hosts, including the one it runs on.
