What do i need to use the VIX?

Hello!

My questions:

1. Supported guest OS?

2. What do i need to install in guest OS?

I tried to use VIX on Solaris 10 (i use Vmware Workstation 7.0 on Windows). In guest OS installed vmware tools (version from WS6.5).

vmrun -T ws -gu root -gw ******** "full_path_to_vmx_file" "cmd_in_guest_os"

Error: This operation is not supported on this guest

why?

Currently VIX only supports Linux* and Windows guests.

____________

  • Those distributions of Linux that are listed as supported guests for the virtualization platform (Workstation, Server, ESX, &c.) that VIX is being used with.

We're don't plan to support Solaris any time in the near future.
