Supported OS's

Since VIX is focused on providing automation for the OS guests inside virtual machines, is there a list of supported Guest OS's or is it supported on any OS supported by ESX 3.5 or vSphere?

The VIX API supports as guest OSes most versions of Microsoft Windows (Windows 95 up to Windows 2008 and Vista) and the Linux distros/releases supported by the host platform. It does not, for instance, support Solaris, FreeBDS, or Netware.

You can use VIX to power on (etc.) a Solaris, FreeBSD, or Netware guest. Just no guest operations.
