Hi,
this is my first go with the hypervisor,
my host is on an IBM x3400 M2 server with1 Xeon quad core processor and with 8 GB RAM
I did a normal installation of vmware esxi 3.5 (the latest one) , I set a static IP and all seems well with the ESXi.
I then created a new virtual machine with windows 2008 R2 server 64 bit edition.
the installation went on well, but when I started and looked through the console, the windows server does not seem to be detecting the network adapter, when I checked in the device manager as well there was a problem with the network adapter.
one more thing I noticed is the movement of the mouse is slow on the console of this machine, does this give us a hint that vmware tools have not been installed correctly? I checked with the vsphere client and it said that the vmware tools are upto date.
can anyone help me resolve this issue or point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Edit VM settings, delete you current Network Adapter, add a new one and select E1000 as the adapter type.
Install the VMware Tools inside the guest and see if that fixes that issue. The Tools contain the necessary drivers.

uninstalled vmware tools and reinstalled once again, but the problems still exists.
any other advice?
Thanks,
Check if the vNIC is flagged to start connected and if it is connected while the guest is running.
What does the system show in the device manager? Post a screenshot.
