serveRAID on ESX server

Have an ESX 3.5 server. Trying to get serveRAID alerts running properly. Like our other windows machines, I have serveRAID installed on my local machine. Note, I have installed nothing serveRAID wise on the ESX server yet.

I connected to the ESX server from my local machine to setup e-mail alerts and get the following message:

"serveRAID could not open socket connection to SMTP server"

I can ping the smtp address using putty connected to the esx server.

Please advise.

Welcome to the Forums you will need to install a plug-in onto your ESX server for it to work - check out http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/director/v5r2/index.jsp?topic=/diricinfo_5.20/fqm0_t_instal...

I'm a little confused on Level 1 & Level 2 agents. Do I need one or both?

RAIDLxLevel1-9.00-1.i386.rpm

RAIDLxAg-9.00-1.i386.rpm

Is this all I need?

Thanks.
