Vizioncore vReplicator works well, no real issues for small environments. Dead simple to use...

I have not tried Veeam's product so cant give you much info there..

Never test Veeam but for vReplicator, it's very pretty straight forward and you can do :

  • replicate online VM

  • replicate source VM to many Datastore (local, shared) (license only base on source VM)

  • replicate source VM to one remote site (more than one site require additional license)

  • Initiate DR Failover

  • VCB integration

  • Differential Hybrid backup (Those like Falconstor)

hi.

thanks for the replies. we use about 3 TB on the production site for the vm's. the dr site will have storage of 6 TB. did i hear something about space being needed on the production server for snapshots etc???

3TB but you can assign small LUN for your Datastore (300-500GB) and yes you should need to consider number of VMs per Datastore, VMs swap, snapshot size & etc. I always keep maintain approximately 10% free on each Datastore for snapshot since snapshot removal need twice of your vmdk size (merge delta with original .vmdk before remove the snapshot).
