guys, I extracted the vmware esxi from the installation iso image to a usb, so I have the installation on a usb drive, rather than having to install it to a hard disk. ESXi start loading but it stop at "loading Module usb." I got a M3N78-VM motherboard
any help appreciated
Your motherboard is in HCL?
http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility
Have you check in whitebox HCL to see in there are some tips?

I took a look at vmware help site and I don't see anything simillar to my problem. My installation hangs while "loading module usb" (during the yellow scree). I tried booting off the cd and I get the same problem....
need help anyone?
Try to disable USB controller from BIOS.
No other ideas... sorry.

Did you solve this issue? I am having the same problem. I have disabled the usb and then the system hangs on loading the sata controller.
The CD installer can install ESXi 4 directly to USB as part of a standard install. No need to extract anything.
Sorry I didn't see the other reference to installing from CD.
