I have servers with ICH10 and I am interested in trying ESXi U4, but when I go to the ESXi download page I only see "VMware ESX Server 3i U3 Installable Refresh Version 3.5 Update 3 | 123629 - 11/06/08". Is there a place or a process to download U4?
Thanks

If you go to the free link on http://www.vmware.com/download/ it will only give you the link for ESXi 3.5 U3
If you go to the paid link, it will put you here: http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/
Then click on ESXi 3.5 U4. It will ask you to use the account that you initially registered for. Put those credentials in, and you should be able to download it from there.

Wow for the fast response.
And thanks, I see the download.
Quick question. I had esxi U3 and I updated with update manager to U4 and all is ok. I can see also Raid and disk status on U4. DL380 G5
I try to make new usb with esxi U4 image but with this I can not see health status on same server. Maybe U3 refresh has somthing extra than U4 refresh?
Thanks
Does it mean that ESXi U4 is only for paying (VI) customers ?
When I clicked the link to download ESXi U4 I got error I am not authorized to download it and need to register my license.
So I went to register it and I got error that it is already registered (true - a few days ago I registered it to download ESXi U3) .
So am I stuck or is there a solution ?
Thanks,
Petr
I found the soulution.
1) reflash usb stick with esxi with U3 with special HP custom image
2) update with update manager to U4
Now all work fine I can see raid and all disk health status
The interesting thing is that the Update (ESXi U4) is already available for everyone (I have downloaded it) - of course it is not very convenient when I need to install a new server on
a motherboard with ICH10 chipset that is supported only in U4.
I guess I can somehow compile the new .iso from the U3 .iso and the update but it does not make much sense to me that I have to do all that.
Petr
but still unable to download the iso which need license key before proceed download.
I stand corrected.
I was looking for ESXi U4 for a new install with ICH10 on the motherboard.
I think I will wait until I see the ESXi U4 in a iso download.
You can get Update 4 here - http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/
For those with an existing install, the CD does not do an upgrade. You either have to use the VI client host update utility or one of the 2 commant prompt methods - http://www.vm-help.com/esx/esx3i/Patch_3i_without_VC.php.
If you need it today, you can sign up for a VI eval and you'll get access to those downloads.
Just one little aside here if you are using the read/write of the RCLI in Free ESXi I would not upgrade to U4 as the Free RCLI has been returned to Read only status.

Hmm... I'm also waiting for the U4 ISO image. The problem for me is that U4 supposedly has a better SATA controller support whereas U3 didn't have. So U3 can't be installed into my server. That means I can't do upgrade; I could only do an installation of U4.

Just ask for an eval of Infrastructure 3. All I get is still U3 ISO.....
After you sign up for the eval did you go back to this page - http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/.
Oh, of course not. VMWare's webmaster really needs to rethink about the navigation flow ...
When I click on the activation link in the mail I received, I'm only given the page to download U3. And when I look at ESXi again, it's still only for U3. It's not logical to put ESXi in the download page of ESX.
And thanks again.
Yes, I know that already. But thanks anyway.
