Where is Server console

Finally got ESXi installed and working thanks to the TargetFilter.py edit suggested by Aliv. Question is how do I install an OS on it, I can't find any sort of console on the Server machine, this is Esx Server 3i 3.5.0 build-123629.

Thanks,

Nick

Go to http://hostname/ or http://ipofESXi/

Download the VI Client.

Install the VIC.

Launch it, and connect to the IP/name of your ESXi installation.

Connect to the IP address you gave your ESXi host from a browser to download the VMware Infrastructure Client. You then use that tool to manage your ESXi host, and can create new virtual machines through that.

So are you saying that there is no console on the host and that it can only be configured remotely not local?

If you want a local console, you need to go with ESX - otherwise all you can configure on the ESXi interface is networking, password, etc. to support making the ESXi host accessible remotely. There is a remote command line interface you can run that provides some of the functionality that the service console does, but again that is run remotely.

Correct. You may be better off with one of the hosted products (VMware Server, Player, or Workstation) if you want to use your host for things other than running virtual machines.

There is a console, but you can't configure much

You could always use the RCLI if you want to have a service console with 3I. Download from here (towards bottom kinda) http://www.vmware.com/download/vi/drivers_tools.html
