Virtual Switch / VLAN / Layer3

Are there any such capabilities in ESXi???

My server is on VLAN0 and thus all the VM's on the server are on VLAN0. I need to put two VM's on the box that are on VLAN4... What, if any Layer3 switching capabilities do I have in ESXi and, if these capabilities exist, how do I set it up so that I can access multiple VLANS from the same server with a single NIC!

The vSwitches does not have any L3 capabillities, Im afraid...

You will need to create a 802.1Q VLAN trunk on your pSwitch if you want multiple networks forwarded to a single pNIC...

another quick solution is to just add more physical nic and assign them to a virtual switch tagged for VLAN4. then just point those VM's to use that network.

You can have multiple vm port groups on a vswitch each assigned to a different vlan but you will have to enable port trunking on your physical switch to support this
