VMotion CPU Compatibility: Intel Xeon 5150 and 5450

Hello all,

I have a customer who has the following servers running ESXi 3.5:

IBM x3650 with Intel Xeon 5150 (dual-core)

IBM x3650 with Intel Xeon 5450 (quad-core)

I believe the two CPUs are not VMotion compatible. What are my option(s)?

1. Enable EVC?

2. Hide CPU Mask in vCenter?

As long as you are using Virtual Centre 3.5 Update2 or later then you can update EVC.
