VM files on local HD - snapshots on iSCSI

Hello all,

Is it possible to outsource the snapshots to another HD?

If I just click on "Take Snapshot", the files are always stored in the same Folder.

Thanks in advance,

Andreas

vimsh command is Remote CLI command that is VI toolkit command.

Normally no need to reload to vmx file. Once you done the changes in VMX file. then power it on the VM.

What I did my case....

1. Power off the VM

2. create new directory which we are going to add for snapshot purpose (Ex.. /vmfs/volumes/xxxxxxLUNname/<vmname_snap>) for our identification

3. Tthen Added working directoy in the VMX file

4. Power ON the VM

If this information is useful for you please mark it CORRECT or HELPFUL

Thanks for your help!

The KB article says that I have to reload virtual machine configuration, with the command:

  1. vimsh -ne "vmsvc/reload <VmId>"

How should I do this on ESXi ?

Kind regards,

Andreas
