Unable to start or create VMs on an existing esxi 3.5 server

Just had a new issue pop up on one of my servers that is driving me crazy.

Running an esxi 3.5 server with several VMs. All storage is local on the server.

Currently running VMs are fine.

Trying to power on non-running VMs results in the following error:

"A general system error occurred. The system returned on error. Communication with the virtual machine may have been interrupted ."

The following things do NOT work:

- Restarting the Management agents

- Removing, then re-adding to Inventory

- Creating new VMs of any type (same error)

Any ideas? This system has been running fine for over a year now, and the suggested fixes above are not working.

Looks like it's under File > Export > Export Diagnostic Data

Give another error:

"A General System Error occured: Internal Error"

Love these detailed error messages. 😕

I'm suspecting you currently having a problem with insufficiant free space available to the host. Check it out.

Almost 120gb of free space on the HD.

Any other ideas?
