Unable to ping from ESX Server 3i 3.5.0

Hi

I have installed the ESX server 3i 3.5.0 on a USB and booting my computer from it. Everything seems to be all right. It detects my network card and I gave it a static IP. However it is unable to communicate with the network. I am unable to ping to the network. I have tried the same usb on a different computer but I am not sure whats causing this issue. Can you please help me out with this?

Thank you.

Do you have DHCP in the network? Try that first. Try a different network cable. What is your server platform -- brand model etc.

I do have a DHCP network, it does not work. I am using a custom built computer with Asus M3A76-CM motherboard and an AMD AM2+ Phenom. Can you please tell me that if a NIC is incompatible, will it still show up in network management.

Thank you for your help.

The Realtek 8111C is not a supported NIC. You may be able to create a modified install http://vm-help.com but you would be better off locating a supported NIC. ise the Hardware Compatibility List or use the vm-help site to find a suitable card.
