Hi,
We have a ESX 3.5 cluster running 4 ESX hosts and Virtual Center. The licensing is ESX Server standard edition. We are in the process of migrating to vSphere 4.1 ESXi and to a new SAN. One of the issues we are facing is since we are only running standard edition, we do not have storage vmotion to migrate the VMs from data stores in the old SAN to datastores in the new SAN. Other than buying the storage vmotion add-on, what other options do I have. I was thinking to add a new ESX 3.5 server to the cluster and do storage vmotion from that server while it is running trial license. I would probably need only couple days to storage vmotion over about 45 VMs. Please let me know if any one had to do this or any other alternatives available.
Hi,
There is an unofficial plugin that does not require licensing.

Thanks a lot. I was able to storage vmotion while the machine was running. Appreciate your help.
