Short question regarding VMware ESXi 3.5

Hello everybody,

I was asked if it was possible to install ESXi 3.5 on a SATA RAID.

By browsing and searching the Web i got the information, that it was just possible on SAS/SCSI RAIDs.

Does anyone have the information, this is working on a SATA RAID?

And if so, have you got any suggestions for a good Controller?

Thank you!

My ESXi's work fine on HP BL460c G1 with SATA disks.

Hi, yes you can install ESXi 3.5 on SATA RAID, however SATA is not supported for VMFS file systems. Take a look at the compatibility matrix for controllers here.

Thanks,

Neil
