SMTP, alarms, in ESXi?

Does ESXi (standalone) have methods for generating alarms or sending them via mail? I looked it up in help but "Virtual Center" was in the header and the instuctions didn't seem to map out to what they were saying.

Thanks in advance...

You would need to generate some custom scripts perhaps using the RCLI or powershell. What sort of alerts are you looking for?

You are correct it is virtual center that allows you to send SMTP alerts - as the other poster pointed you will need the Remote CLI to possible script something -

Bummer. I was reading one of the other posts which made it sound like this was doable at the client level. In this case I would be interested in general alarms that would help me beat the phone calls in the event (no pun intended) of a system or guest outage. Sounds like a lot of trouble to get it going manually.

I'd suggest posting your request in this forum - http://communities.vmware.com/community/developer/managementapi or http://communities.vmware.com/community/developer/windows_toolkit (powershel). Someone may already have something similar to what you're looking for.
