Hello,
i installed ESX 3i on a flash drive and use it on a Supermicro X7DBE, it runs a long time wothout problems. After the installation of the latest patches my local single SATA harddisk still was found but the Datastore wasn't mounted. I used it only for swap files, so i created a new one. But after a reboot the Datastore wasn't mounted again.
Any ideas? Or had someone the same experience?
Best regards
Stefan
Hi,
I had the exact same issue after applying the latest patches. My system board uses the nVidia SATA (CK804) chipset and was working fine on 82664.
I've recovered my earlier image with SHIFT+R at the boot screen and everything is back to normal.

Hello,
but i'm wondering, at the second server with the same hardware, but only a second SATA harddisk which i use for backups, the first harddisk (for local swap files) was still available but the second not...
I switched back, that the swap files will be stored in the folder of the vm config. And the large single harddisk i moved into the SAN....
Green IT The removing of two harddisks consumes less power...
