Team:
Back when I used the P2V Assistant, I would deal with major hardware failures on physical machines (such as a blown motherboard) by:
1. Create a VM for the Physical Machine.
2. Assign it's disks to the P2V Assistant VM
3. Perform a Redirected Restore of the Physical Machine onto the disks now on the P2V Assistant machine
4. Run the P2V Assistant, and it would "convert" the OS on the restored disk by removing hardware dependent device drivers and installing VMware Virtual Device Drivers instead
5. Drop the disks from the P2V Assistant machine and give them back to the original VM
6. Boot the VM, install VMware Tools, and off we go
But I can't seem to do the same thing with VMware Converter. It wants a "source" to convert from, and the sources are all image files. Is this a capability that is no longer available in VMware Converter?
Thanks
Doug
It is available.
Which converter do you use and which kind image do you provide?

AWo,
I'm not providing an Image. I have the files restored to a bootable Virtual Disk. Not in an image.
And I'm using VMware Converter ver 4.0.1
