I've got our first 2 hosts that are getting a little old now. I've bought a couple of new servers to replace them. I'm wondering what's the best way to replace them?
I'm booting from SAN, so there's literally nothing on the host itself. It doesn't even have any hard drives in it. Would it work fine if I just pulled the HBA and stuck it in the new host and brought it back up? Or should I just suck it up and do a fresh install of 3.5?
I would just install ESX on the new hardware, add them to your data center & migrate the VMs to the new hosts.
It`s better to make a new install, and, if you can, also migrate to ESX 4 also.
