Remote ESXi hosts show as 'not responding'

I'm running VC 2.5 with local ESX 3.5 U4 hosts. I've recently added three ESXi 3.5 hosts into a new cluster. They add fine, but then turn to 'not responding' after a few minutes. I can disconnect and reconnect, but same thing. I am told the WAN uplinks are sufficient. Not sure if this is a setting or something else easy. Thanks.

have you tried restarting the management agents?

I tried '/sbin/services.sh restart', disconnected the host, reconnected, but then a few minutes later the host is showing 'not responding' again.

It could be a name resolution issue as well. Ensure you can resolve both shortname and long name of your ESXi hosts from your vCenter Host.

Also, if nothing else it just may be a timeout issue in vCenter. You may look at increasing the timeout

I verified DNS resolution on both sides.

I updated the timeout to 120 seconds, but still get the same problem.

Do you know the UDP port that is being used? I'll verify the firewall. Thanks.

This was in fact a firewall issue. Thanks.
