Question on ESXi Licensing

How many sockets a does the license support? I currently am only running one proc in a dual socket machine, does my license allow me to add a secong proc?

Hi,

When you buy a license it is for 2xsockets. You can use it for one 2xsocket system or two 1xsocket systems.

ESXi licensing is free, though, so there isn't any buying a license. However, I can say that my dual-socket machines with both sockets filled worked fine with my free ESXi license, so there shouldn't be any problem adding another processor in that second socket later on. I'm not sure about anything higher than two sockets, though - I don't have a machine with more than two sockets to try it on!
