Planned outage now our VMs are unavailable

OK so we had a planned powerdown this last weekend to add additional power.

We have a VMware ESX Server 3i, 3.5.0, 123629 and an HP MSA 1500.

Before the downtime everything was working perfectly and we had close to a dozen production VM's on a 585 GB area on the MSA 1500. It was given a LUN ID #1 and connected to the ESXi server via Fiber Channel through a fiber switch.

Now when we powered the ESXi server up all the VM's in the inventory show as "Unknown (inaccessible)". Under (Configuration > Storage) we don't see the 585 GB datastore. If I click "Add Storage..." and select "Disk/LUN" and click next it shows:

Device: vmhba2:0:1 Capacity: 585.94 GB Available: 585.93 SAN Identifier: 50:05:08:b3:00:92:ca:79 LUN: 1

If I click next in the wizard it says "The hard disk is blank." Uh no! I know that disk wasn't blank!

I certainly don't want to proceed with the wizard and format wiping out all our production VM's! How do I recover from this catastrophe?

Thanks for any help you can provide...

Do you have any relevant messages in /var/log/vmkernel ? Without logs, I'm just guessing but maybe this kb could help:
