My Guest just became Invalid after snapshot was taken

I just took a snapshot of my Debian Linux VM/guest and after it was done the guest stopped running and it is grayed out with a (invalid) in the name of the VM. I re-inventoried it and it appeared fine and was still running. Why does this happen; is there a bug in ESXi build 110271 that anyone knows of?

I've had the same thing happen with a Windows OS. I have been unable to get it back yet though. Ideas anyone???

I've run into the same problem with a Win2k3 Server guest.

This may seem a stupid question, but how did you re-inventory your VM? I tried adding a new VM with the existing virtual hard disk file, but when starting the VM, I get an error message about a file being locked.

<UPDATE>

Found it myself - open datastore, navigate to the directory containing the VM, right-click the .vmx file, Add to inventory - Voilà!

</UPDATE>

Kind regards

Frank
