Move a disk/VMFS volume from one ESXi server to another ESXi machine

hi

I would like to configure a single SCSI disk as VMFS volume, copy several gigabytes of data on it and ship the disk to another ESXi server I have in my Disaster Recovery environment. Can the second ESXi box read the VMFS content without security issues? is this possibile?

thanks for any feedback

Yes, this should not be a problem. What you are doing with a physical disk is typically what is done with a SAN and replication technologies in a DR/COOP situation. The storage is replicated identically, in your case, it is the original storage. It is added to the new server, and then the new server (in your case a rescan may not be enough, you may have to reboot) rescans the SAN storage, and the VMFS datastore is recognized and added to the directory structure.
